Pocket Bunny Golf — Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2, 2026
Pocket Bunny Golf ("the app") is a golf scorecard for iOS. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and what you can do about it. Contact: pocketbunnyco@gmail.com.
What we collect
Account. You can use the app as a guest or sign in with Apple. Either way we create an account identifier. If you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address (or Apple's private relay address, if you choose Hide My Email).
Your golf data. Rounds, scores, the players you add to a round (names you type), clubs logged, the clubs you choose for your bag, penalties, courses you save, your handle, and your pet ("caddie") progress.
Course unlocks. If you unlock a course's hole map or Ask Pocket Bunny's hole picks, we record which courses your account has unlocked.
Pocket Bunny Pro and carrots. If you subscribe, Apple handles the payment: we never see your card or other payment details. Apple sends us a signed record of the purchase, and we store your subscription's status (plan, trial, renewal and expiry dates), Apple's transaction identifiers, your carrot balance, a history of the carrots you earn, spend and get back, and your monthly carrot challenges.
Shared rounds. If you play a shared round, the other players in it can see the round's scores, the players' names and handles, the tee each player chose, and each signed-in player's club bag (so everyone's club pad shows the right clubs).
Notifications. If you sign in with Apple and turn on notifications, we store a push token for your phone under your account, so the app can tell you when a friend invites you to a shared round, joins your round, or starts it. The token identifies the app on your phone to Apple's and Google's notification services and is used for nothing else. It is removed when you sign out, erase your data or delete your account, or the next time you open the app after turning notifications off.
Location. If you allow it, the app uses your location while it is open to show distances to the green. Your location is used on your phone only. It is not sent to our servers or stored.
Crash reports and usage. If the app crashes, it sends a crash report (what the app was doing when it stopped, and the phone model and iOS version) so we can fix it. The app also counts how it is used: that it was opened, how long a session lasted, the app version, and purchases of Pocket Bunny Pro. Google Analytics gives each installation a random identifier to count these, and works out a general region (country and city) from the connection's IP address. None of this is linked to your account, name or email, and none of it is used for advertising.
We do not use advertising, do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and do not sell your data.
Where it is stored and who processes it
- Your phone. The app works offline; your data is stored on the phone first.
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions and Cloud Storage) stores your backup so it can be restored if you reinstall or change phones, delivers shared rounds between players, keeps your Pocket Bunny Pro status and carrots, and keeps a shared copy of each course's hole map. Firebase App Check, with Apple's App Attest, confirms that requests come from the real app; it checks the app and device, not you.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging and the Apple Push Notification service deliver those notifications. A notification contains the handle of the friend it is about and the course's name.
- Firebase Crashlytics and Google Analytics receive the crash reports and usage counts described above.
- Apple App Store handles Pocket Bunny Pro purchases, renewals, cancellations and refunds.
- Sign in with Apple handles your Apple sign-in.
- Course data. To search courses and draw hole maps, the app sends course searches and course locations to OpenGolfAPI, GolfCourseAPI and OpenStreetMap (Overpass). These requests contain the course you are looking at, not your account or your location.
- Google Gemini API. When you ask Pocket Bunny about a course that hasn't been researched yet, the course's name, location and number of holes are sent to Google's Gemini API, which searches the web for the course's signature and most scenic holes. Nothing about you is sent: not your name, email, account or location. The answer is stored in Firebase and shared with every player who unlocks that course.
Why
To run the app: keep score, back up and restore your rounds, let you play with friends, and show course information. Crash reports and usage counts are used only to fix problems and to see which parts of the app are used. We do not use your data for anything else.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays until you delete it. In the app:
- Settings → Erase all data deletes your rounds and your backup.
- Settings → Delete account deletes your account and everything stored under it, revokes the Sign in with Apple link, and clears the phone.
Deleting your account doesn't cancel a Pocket Bunny Pro subscription: Apple bills it, so cancel it in your iPhone's Settings → your name → Subscriptions. After deletion we keep one record of each App Store purchase (Apple's purchase identifier and the deleted account's identifier) so that purchase can't be claimed by another account.
Crash reports and usage counts aren't linked to your account, so deleting the account doesn't remove them. Google keeps crash reports for 90 days and usage data for a limited period.
You can also email pocketbunnyco@gmail.com to ask for a copy or for deletion. A player's copy of a shared round that is already on another player's phone stays on that phone.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above, and in the app where the change matters.
